chlorinate

(chamber ensemble, 2026)

the struggle between stability and self-sabotage. explored through the heaviness of metal and the dissonance of contemporary. performed at MusicON InterArts 2026.

every day is yesterday

(large orchestra, 2026)

the ephemeral present moment is somehow always in the past. time perception waxes and wanes as memories and ruminations clash into one.

cinderella’s night

(small/chamber orchestra, 2025)

a whimsical adventure. cinderella bursts out of her garden in a pumpkin carriage, bumpily riding to the prince’s castle. she is bewildered by the huge castle and countless waltzers, but eventually finds her steps in the dance. as she and the prince fall in love, their hearts flutter as if all time has stopped. but, as soon as the magical moment started, it ends as the clock strikes midnight, and cinderella flurries back to her home.

the overthinker

(string orchestra with piano & vibraphone 2025)

the desire to make sense of everything is what drives my humanity, but the more I think, the more undesirable truths I find that can never be unlearned. a conscience fights its patterns and finds joy even if the mind won’t allow itself to do so.

a child’s daydream

(string orchestra with piano, 2025)

the free and wild mind of a kid tries to stay focused in school, but his attention starts to slip away. the teacher’s voice fades into a blur as he imagines his chronicles as a medieval knight, embarking on a dangerous quest to slay a dragon, heart pounding with the thrill of battle, dodging flames and rolling under to deliver the final blow. victory is his, and with it, the kingdom is safe again––at least until the teacher calls on him.

spiraling dreams

(trumpet and trombone, 2024)

written for Juilliard Nowbeat’s 2024 Cycle.

the hallways morph into a maze with crimson-washed walls. the ceiling encroaches down. warped portraits of figures i can’t recognize fill me with unease. one of them leaps out of its frame and locks onto me as its target. i finally escape after a long-winded chase.

the winding woods

(string orchestra, 2024)

selected for Finalist for the American Prize in Composition, Charles Ives (instrumental chamber) award, 2024-25.

after the storm

(solo piano, 2023)

the calm ocean erupts as the storm approaches. lightning fractures the sky and rain ushers in torrential waves. but this storm, too, passes. the sky clears and the waves quell, the surface sparkling as the sun emerges beneath the clouds. the turbulent forces of nature gradually yield to the same calmness and serenity as before. performed at MusicON 2024.
